ABOUT THE COMPANY: Central Auto was established in 1921 and was built on the "whatever it takes to get the job done" philosophy. Their first tow truck was a 1928 Cadillac wrecker with a hand crank and vacuum operated plow. They've grown substantially since then. Now the company boasts a fleet of 100 pieces of equipment, over 40 employees and five company divisions including: Central Garage (towing), Central Construction (trucking), Central Rigging (rigging dept), Central Auto (auto repair, body work, welding), and Central Plowing (snow plowing).

MOST INTERESTING STORY: Angelo tells us about the time a load of paper rolls broke through the walls of a trailer truck and landed on a Lincoln Town Car, killing the driver. A passenger in the back seat laid down and survived the accident. The paper rolls pinned the car between some jersey barriers and the trailer truck. Angelo and crew quickly removed the guard rails and positioned their 45 ton Auto Car over the top of the car. They held six paper rolls in place to prevent them from rolling while they lifted another three rolls and moved them from the area. The rolls weighed 5,000 pounds each. Eventually all rolls were removed, the passenger was extracted from the back seat and sent to the hospital. The survivor was grateful for the swift service Angelo and his crew provided. Upon release from the hospital, she was quick to visit Angelo to offer her thanks and appreciation for performing this life-saving feat.

AWARDS AND COMMENDATIONS: Inc. Magazine has nominated Central Auto #2 fastest growing company of its type in the state of Connecticut for five years for showing a 64% rate of growth.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Central Auto is very active in sponsoring various baseball and football programs for young people.
