 Our Customer of the Month for September, 2009 is Lloyd Shaw from Addison & Harlem Towing, River Grove, IL. About Lloyd Shaw: Lloyd tells us that he bought his first truck from a friend for $700. He was going to do towing as a sideline. Shortly after buying the truck, the trucking company Lloyd worked for went out of business. So he jumped into towing full time. Lloyd slowly improved the truck he had until he could buy a better one. Now he purchases new trucks, but still keep improving them by adding lights, accessories, etc. Lloyd says "It seems my trucks are never done, there is always some new gadget, or something that I must add!" Lloyd currently has two trucks and one service vehicle. He also employes one person. We asked Lloyd about his favorite truck: "#16 is my favorite truck. I built the best all around truck that I could. It is a 2009 Ford F550 super cab 4X4 Lariat. It's royal red metallic with black leather, with all cab options except factory navigation (I prefer my Garmin better). I had Lynch-Chicago install a Century EB4 stainless steel bed, and I have been installing accessories ever since! This is my dream truck, it rides like a car, and it tows everything from motorcycles to loaded dump trucks with ease." Lloyd's favorite work-related story: " Last night, I get a call from the far south side, for a motorcycle tow. They said it was wrecked, and that they pushed it in to the garage. What's odd, is that they said it had to be towed right away to the motorcycle shop, even though they were closed for the evening, and the bike was already in a garage. Sounded fishy. I called a friend of mine who was robbed at gun point by two guys in the same exact area. He confirmed that the phone number was the robbers. So I called them back and told him my driver could do the tow in an hour, to which he said OK, I'll wait. We then contacted Chicago detectives and setup the sting, with my friend in the back of the unmarked car to give a positive ID. The guys ran, and I kept calling his cell phone so the police could find them. They followed the ringing, and the guys ran into a house, and about 30-40 of Chicago's finest were on the scene and took them into custody. Tow truck drivers are a little safer on the street today." AWARDS AND COMMENDATIONS: Won a trophy for best tow truck in a truck show. Just recently took First Place in the Light and Medium duty class at the PTROI (Illinois) tow show.
